Nobel Forum
Dear Dr. Nils :
I was in Sweden in the first week of November and visited Nobel Forum and the Nobel Foundation on 1st November, 1996. Ms Christina Fallenius, who showed me around, presented me following important books :-
1.. Nobel Foundation Directory
2.. Statutes of the Nobel Foundation
3.. Alfred Nobel and the Nobel Prizes
4.. The Legacy of Alfred Nobel.
I, in turn, presented to her two of my books
1.. Nature Cure and Yoga Therapy and
2.. Shadow Government.
Having noted my valid suggestions, Ms Fallenius asked me to put my proposal in writing to you so that it can be discussed and considered. Accordingly, I am sending you this letter.
I would like you to put this letter before the Medical Nobel Committee and also before the full Board of Nobel Foundation and consider it with an open mind.
I, hereby, propose that Alternative Medicine (Naturopathy, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, etc.) be included for consideration of a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
Nobel Prizes, as per the rules, can be divided equally and given to maximum three persons. It is suggested that every year, the Nobel Prize in Medicine be given to two Medical streams, as under : -
1.. To Alternative Medicine (Holistic Health Sciences), and
2.. To Modern (or Allopathic/Orthodox) Medicine.
It should be noted that the Traditional and Natural Medicine have got the history and tradition of thousands of years. And, whereas, the so-called scientific (or official) medicine has failed, Traditional medicine has not. Also, Alfred Nobel himself could survive his long debilitating illness due to Herbal Cure. It is a fact that even today, 80 percent people are benefitting from Alternative Medicine.
Consequently, the Medical Committee at Karolinska Institutet should be more open towards Alternative Medicine. Qualified, experienced, widely-travelled, well-motivated persons like the undersigned can be of help to you in that direction and I offer my services to the Nobel Forum.
While in Europe, I heard in certain quarters some adverse remarks like certain countries get preference over others in the Nobel Awards, etc. I do not think those allegations are true nor am I interested in controversies. But I thought I should bring them to your kind attention so that the distinguished members of the Nobel Forum become aware of vox populi.
I am, however, writing this letter with an open mind and expect you to consider the same likewise. I am enclosing one of my books which gives my brief biodata and details the benefits of Naturopathy and Yoga. Later on, I may send you my other publications.
Looking forward to hearing from you and with best wishes for Christmas and the New Year 1997,
DR. LEO REBELLO, Kt.
